The prisoners of Punjab who cannot afford services of private advocates can seek free legal aid from the nominated advocates of District legal Service Authority who visit jails on regular basis to pursue cases of such needy prisoners, Some of the educated prisoners are also roped in this endevour who act as para legal volunteers in the Jail to help these uneducated prisoners to gain free legal aid from the nominated advocate of the District legal services authorities. This services is being provided in all Jail of Punjab under National Legal Services Authority act 1987.
